Roof Replacement
While we can’t give a standard answer on exact roofing timelines, generally, in winter and early spring, we can install a roof within 1-2 weeks, and in late spring to fall, expect a 2-4 week wait. Most roofing projects require a building permit, which we handle for you, including any inspections—making the process as stress-free as possible. Permit costs vary by location, but we’ll clearly communicate any additional fees upfront.
Which shingles do you recommend?
While we prefer Atlas shingles, we install a variety of shingles from different manufacturers based on extensive hands-on experience. After evaluating your roof, we’ll recommend the best option suited to your needs, budget, and home structure.
Do I need to do anything prior to my roof install day?
We make the process as easy as possible, requiring very little from you. We recommend securing any fragile items on the walls or ceilings, as vibrations during installation could cause damage. On the day of installation, work begins between 7:00 and 7:30 AM, so please move vehicles out of the garage the night before to avoid any disruption.
What happens if the weather isn't cooperating on the day of my roofing project?
We prioritize the well-being of our customers and roofing teams above all else. On the day of your installation, we actively monitor weather conditions to ensure they are safe for work. Should we foresee any potential hazards, like high winds or rain, we will reach out to you to discuss the implications and may need to reschedule your project for safety reasons.
How do you protect my home from damage during my roofing install?
Protecting your home during a roofing installation is something we take pride in, and we tailor our setup to each job. We come equipped with protective materials like wood, tarps, and lumber, ensuring your property is safeguarded before we even start work.
How do you make sure no nails are left behind?
We will never leave your property without a thorough cleanup like some companies might, but guaranteeing every stray nail is found would be unrealistic. However, we use careful methods to ensure your yard and driveway are free of loose nails.
Are ridge vents or box vents better?
The choice between ridge vents and box vents depends on your roof's design—ridge vents are ideal for cathedral ceilings, while box vents are best for roofs with multiple slopes. If both options work, we recommend ridge vents for their better appearance.
Ice dams form when warm air in the attic melts snow on the roof, which then refreezes at the eaves, blocking proper drainage. This occurs due to heat escaping from the home, not cold air entering, leading to potential leaks as the ice builds up.
How do I know if I need a new roof?
Signs you may need a new roof include frequent leaks, missing or damaged shingles, and visible sagging or discoloration on the roof surface. Additionally, if your roof is more than 20 years old and showing wear, it might be time for a replacement.
How long should a new roof last?
We highly recommend Atlas shingles for your home, as we've found them to be superior to other brands in several key areas. With proper installation and care, Atlas shingles can last between 25 to 50 years.
Will insurance cover my new roof?
Roof damage from storms, hail, or other natural disasters is often covered by homeowners insurance, but the specifics depend on your policy. While the age of your roof may impact reimbursement, most policies cover damage from events like hail, fallen trees, or fires. However, wear and tear or long-term leaks are generally not covered, and some policies may require roof inspections for older roofs. It’s important to file a claim promptly and consult your agent for details on coverage.
How long does it take to install a new roof?
Most residential roofs we install are completed in a single day, thanks to our army. Larger or more complex projects may require a second day, but we always prioritize quality, safety, and customer satisfaction to ensure your home is well-protected.
Roof Inspection
How much is a roof inspection?
While some companies charge for detailed roof inspections, Roofing Army provides free roof inspections so we can help you identify if you need a new roof or just roof repairs. From there, we go over options and create a mission plan that works for you and your budget.
How long does a roof inspection take?
A roof inspection will take about an hour as we don't like to rush through the process but we don't like to drag them out either. Rushing an inspection could lead to missed issues and we like to ensure that every problem is identified so the correct course of action is taken.
How much is a roof inspection?
We highly recommend and prefer that you are home during your roof inspection for a few reasons. 1) We like to take a look into your attic to identify any insultation/ventilation problems, as well as rotted deck boards. 2) Your roof is important and we think that making such a big decision should involve meeting the person responsible for the job. 3) A detailed report is created for your roof and we like going over it in-depth so you're making an educated decision.
We want to make sure there's attic access because attics could identity issues with your roof that are not noticeable from the outside. Things such as stained deck boards, insulation that's not evenly spread, mold, mildew and other symptoms can help us identity a faulty roof.
Do you provide a quote on the spot?
Yes, after our roof inspector has thoroughly checked your roof out, he or she will put together three options for three different budgets.
What does a roof inspection include?
A roof inspection will include three detailed quotes, a Recon Report detailing a score of your current roof, pictures and/or videos of obvious damage or signs of wear, warranty information, financing options and product information.
Do you provide a detailed report?
Yes, we provide you a "Recon Report" which is a detailed report card for your roof that involves a scoring system to give each aspect of your roof a passing or failing grade. This will give you a good idea of the problems at hand, if any.
Roofing Cost
How much does it cost to install a new asphalt roof in?
The cost of installing a new asphalt roof typically ranges from $5,000 to $15,000, depending on the size and complexity of your roof. On average, homeowners can expect to pay $3 to $5 per square foot. We offer free estimates to provide an accurate quote based on your specific needs.
What factors affect the cost of a new roof?
Several factors influence the cost of your roof, including:
- The size of your roof (measured in square feet).
- The type and quality of asphalt shingles you choose (standard vs. premium).
- The pitch or steepness of your roof.
- The condition of the existing roof and underlying structures.
- Labor and material costs, which may vary seasonally.
- Any additional features like skylights, chimneys, or complex designs.
Are there additional costs for removing my old roof?
Our team includes cleanup and disposal in our estimates, so there are no surprises.
Are there any area-specific factors that impact roofing costs, like weather or local regulations?
Your area's weather and regulations can influence roofing costs:
Weather conditions: Extreme winters and seasonal storms may require durable shingles rated for high winds and freezing temperatures.
Local building codes: Permits and inspections are required for roofing projects in certain areas, which can add to the overall cost.
Our team ensures compliance with local regulations and installs roofing materials designed to withstand your climate.
Can I save money by repairing my roof instead of replacing it?
In some cases, repairs can be a cost-effective option if the damage is localized, such as a few missing shingles or small leaks. However, if your roof is older than 20 years, has widespread damage, or underlying structural issues, replacement may be more cost-effective in the long run. We’ll assess your roof’s condition and recommend the best solution for your budget.
Do you offer discounts for military members, seniors, or other groups?
Yes! Roofing Army proudly offers discounts for military members, veterans, and seniors as a way to give back to our community. Contact us for details on our current promotions and eligibility requirements.
Will insurance cover my new roof?
Insurance may cover the cost of a new roof if the damage is due to unexpected events like storms, wind, or hail. Coverage depends on your policy and the nature of the damage. We can assist you with the claims process by providing detailed inspections and documentation to submit to your insurance provider.

What is the difference between a hard and soft inquiry?
When applying for financing through Hearth with Roofing Army, it’s important to understand credit inquiries. Hard inquiries occur when you formally apply for a loan, credit card, or mortgage, providing lenders with a detailed credit report. These inquiries may temporarily impact your credit score and remain on your credit report for up to two years. Soft inquiries, on the other hand, occur during pre-qualification or pre-approval and provide lenders with a high-level credit summary without affecting your credit score. Hearth’s pre-qualification process only involves a soft inquiry, so you can explore loan options worry-free.
Will this affect my credit score?
Hearth’s prequalification process, offered through Roofing Army, does not affect your credit score. However, if you choose to apply for a loan directly with a lender, this may result in a hard credit pull, depending on the lender’s policies. A hard pull could temporarily impact your credit score.
What information do I need to apply for a loan?
To apply for financing through Hearth with Roofing Army, homeowners need to provide their name, contact information, physical address, Social Security Number, and income verification. Additionally, your credit report must be unfrozen or unlocked to proceed with the application.

How quickly can I get a roof replacement loan?
Homeowners can typically expect to receive their funds within 2–7 days after their loan is approved, ensuring a quick and efficient process to start your roofing project.
